Do you remember your first hug?

 

 

Do you remember the first time you fell off your bike and your mother or father gave you a hug?  What about your first award at school or on a team sport?  When your heart was broken by a friend, what did your mother or father do to help you overcome your disappointment?  A hug!  It always makes things better.  It opens up your heart and let’s good feelings in and shows that you are loved and deserving of someone’s attention and gratitude.

 

Why did I launch Hug Your Hero Gifts?  I have been trying to find something that I was passionate about all of my life and I have finally realized it was right under my nose this entire time.  After nearly 19 years in the corporate world, I finally said enough to the 12 hour days of frustration, bureaucracy and stress because at the end of the day I didn’t have anything warm and gratifying to show for my time away from my family.  There was a passion missing.  So I stepped back and asked myself what do I enjoy doing?  The answer was simple:  I enjoy making Thanksgiving dinner for the fire station up the street that have to work on a holiday and can’t be with their families.  It was making special things for my daughter’s teachers who work so hard every day to teach our children what they need to know to grow and become balanced and well rounded.  It was about buying lunch for the police officer in the next booth at lunch time.  It’s about the smiles we bring to other people’s faces when we do something just because we want to say thank you.  That was the passion that was missing from my job and now it has turned into a dream to be my own boss and own a business that I can be proud to say is our family business.  And not just a business but one that involves each one of us, the love of those who make our lives what they are and an outlet to show our heroes that they are special to many people.  There are many people in our communities that get up every morning and go to a dangerous job so that we can live safe, healthy and happy lives.  We just want to thank those people.  So I ask you, is there anything better than a hug?  Not in my book!  Hopefully not in yours either!

 

It’s just a simple gesture, a simple word, a simple sign.   It’s a simple hug.  A simple thank you for our troops, doctors, nurses, firefighters, police officers, teachers, veterans and all of our other heroes!
